See ticketsThe Estádio José Alvalade has been Sporting's home since 2003. Over 52,000 seats, brightly coloured façades and a roof covering the whole crowd: built for Euro 2004, it also hosted the 2005 UEFA Cup final.
The stadium has two tiers. Downstairs (A blocks), the centre of the sidelines is Category 1 Platinum and the sides Gold, with Category 2 behind the goals. Upstairs (B blocks), the centre of the sidelines is Silver, the sides Category 1 and the ends behind the goals Category 3, often the cheapest seats.
The Lisbon derby against Benfica and the clássico against FC Porto are the most awaited games at Alvalade. Champions League nights are also in high demand.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
A20–A28 · B24–B32
The sideline at the top of the map. Downstairs, A26 to A28 are Category 1 Platinum and A20 to A25 Gold; upstairs, B30 to B32 are Silver and B24 to B29 Category 1.
A1–A9 · B1–B9
The opposite sideline. Downstairs, A1 to A3 are Category 1 Platinum and A4 to A9 Gold; upstairs, B1 to B3 are Silver and B4 to B9 Category 1.
A11–A19 · B11–B23
Behind the goal, on the left of the map (odd numbers): A11 to A19 downstairs (Category 2) and B11 to B23 upstairs (Category 3).
A10–A18 · B10–B22
Behind the other goal (even numbers): A10 to A18 downstairs (Category 2) and B10 to B22 upstairs (Category 3), among the cheapest seats in the stadium.
Metro: Campo Grande station (yellow and green lines), right next to the stadium.
From central Lisbon, allow about twenty minutes by metro.
By car, the stadium is reached via the Segunda Circular, but the area is very busy on match nights: take the metro instead.
The lion on the crest gave Sporting its nickname, and green and white have always been its colours. The club is one of the big three of Portuguese football.
Luís Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo both came through Sporting's academy. Ronaldo caught Manchester United's eye in the match that opened Alvalade in 2003.
In 1964, Sporting won the Cup Winners' Cup, its great European trophy. It also reached the 2005 UEFA Cup final, in its own stadium.
Sporting Clube de Portugal was founded in 1906 in Lisbon. It quickly became one of the country's great clubs and Benfica's great rival.
In the 1940s and 1950s, Sporting dominated Portuguese football with its famous "Five Violins", a legendary attacking line. In 1964, it won the Cup Winners' Cup.
The new Estádio José Alvalade, opened in 2003 right next to the old one, bears the name of the club's founder and has since hosted the biggest games in Portuguese football.
Next match at Alvalade: Sporting CP - Moreirense on Saturday, 7 November 2026 at 20:30. Tickets from €42 on our comparison.
See tickets →The two stadiums are just a few metro stops apart and both offer a great atmosphere. Tickets for a regular Sporting match are often a little cheaper. And if your trip falls on the derby between the two clubs, that is the match not to miss.
The derby against Benfica and the clássico against FC Porto cost much more than other matches. Right now, tickets start from €25 on our site. Upstairs behind the goals (Category 3), you will often find the cheapest seats.
Take the metro to Campo Grande station, on the yellow and green lines: the stadium is right next to it. From central Lisbon, allow about twenty minutes.
For the best view, choose the centre of a sideline downstairs (blocks A1 to A3 or A26 to A28), in Category 1 Platinum. Upstairs, blocks B1 to B3 and B30 to B32 (Silver) give a fine overall view for less.
Sporting tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
