See ticketsMestalla is the oldest stadium still in use in Spain's top flight: Valencia CF have played there since 1923. Its stands, among the steepest in Europe, plunge right down onto the pitch, earning it a reputation as a cauldron for around 49,000 fans.
The Tribuna, with the VIP area, faces the Preferencia, which climbs over six levels up to blocks 751 to 753. Behind the goals, the Gol Norte, or Curva Nord, where the Yomus sing, faces the Gol Sur, which houses the away section. Until the Nou Mestalla, still under construction, is ready, this is where Valencia's heart beats.
The big fixtures of the season are Real Madrid's visit, the derbies against Villarreal and Levante, and the games against FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
Tribuna
The main stand, with the dugouts and the VIP area. Blocks 112 to 116 and 212 to 216 (Category 1 Platinum) offer the best view; blocks 311 to 417, higher up, are still very well placed.
Preferencia
The stand opposite, climbing over six levels. At the bottom (153 to 156, 253 to 256), Platinum; at the very top (651 to 753), Category 1, with the bird's-eye view Mestalla is famous for.
Gol Sur
Behind the south goal, a curve of numbered blocks: 173 to 674 at the bottom and in the middle (Category 2), 771 to 773 at the very top (Category 3). Away fans are usually placed in an upper corner of this stand.
Gol Norte (Curva Nord)
Behind the north goal, the Curva Nord, home of the Yomus and Valencia's most passionate fans. Blocks 132 to 632 at the bottom and in the middle (Category 2) and 731 to 733 at the very top (Category 3): the hottest atmosphere in the stadium, at a low price.
Metro: Aragó (line 5) or Facultats (lines 3 and 9) station, a few minutes' walk from the stadium.
On foot: about 15 minutes from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, crossing the Turia gardens.
The stands are very steep and there are lots of stairs: arrive early, especially if your seat is at the top of the Preferencia.
Real Madrid's visit is the hottest game of the year at Mestalla. The derbies against Villarreal, the Valencian Community neighbours, and against Levante, the city's other club, complete the picture, along with visits from Barça and Atlético.
Six Spanish league titles (including 2002 and 2004 under Rafa Benítez), eight Copas del Rey, a UEFA Cup in 2004 and two consecutive Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001: Valencia CF long rubbed shoulders with Europe's elite.
Mario Kempes, Gaizka Mendieta, Santiago Cañizares, Pablo Aimar, David Villa and David Silva lit up Mestalla. On the French side, Jérémy Mathieu and Geoffrey Kondogbia were regular starters there.
Valencia CF was founded in 1919 and moved in 1923 to Mestalla, named after the irrigation canal that ran alongside the pitch. Its fans are nicknamed "Los Che", after a typical local interjection, and the bat on its crest echoes the city's coat of arms.
The club won its first titles in the 1940s, then enjoyed a second golden era around Argentina's Mario Kempes, with the Cup Winners' Cup in 1980.
At the turn of the 2000s, two Champions League finals, two LaLiga titles and a UEFA Cup made Valencia one of the best teams in Europe. The club is now preparing its move to the Nou Mestalla.
Next match at Mestalla: Valencia - Real Madrid on Saturday, 7 November 2026 at 21:00. Tickets from €140 on our comparison.
See tickets →Mestalla's stands are famous for being very steep, especially at the top of the Preferencia (blocks 651 to 753) and the curves. The view is spectacular, but if you are sensitive to heights, go for the lower blocks of the side stands (blocks 111 to 117 and 151 to 157).
The game against Real Madrid is by far the most expensive, followed by the derbies and the games against Barça and Atlético. Right now, tickets start from €40 on our site. The curves and the top of the stands (Category 2 and 3) are the most affordable.
Mestalla is right in the city, about a 15-minute walk from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. By metro, get off at Aragó (line 5) or Facultats (lines 3 and 9), a few minutes from the stadium.
It is Valencia CF's future stadium, in the north of the city, whose construction was halted for years before resuming. Until it is finished, the club keeps playing at Mestalla, and that is the stadium our tickets cover.
Valencia tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
