See ticketsVenezia play at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, one of Europe's most unusual stadiums. Opened in 1913, it is Italy's second-oldest stadium still in use, and it stands on the island of Sant'Elena, at the end of the Castello district: you get there on foot or by vaporetto, never by car.
The stadium holds around 11,000 seats over four stands right next to the pitch. The Tribuna, on the main side, holds the central seats and VIP areas. Opposite, the Distinti Solesin offer a side view. The Arancioneroverdi fans gather in the Curva Sud Groppello, while the Curva Nord hosts the local section and the away fans.
Arriving at the Penzo by boat, with the lagoon and Venetian palaces as a backdrop, is a unique experience. As the stadium is small, tickets go quickly, especially against Inter, Milan, Juventus or Napoli.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
Tribuna
The main stand, with the central seats (TON, TV8, TV9) and VIP areas. The best view in the stadium.
Distinti Solesin
The opposite side stand, with the lagoon as a backdrop. A fine overall view, also in Category 1.
Curva Sud Groppello
The Venezia fans' end, over two rows of blocks. The liveliest atmosphere at the Penzo.
Curva Nord
The opposite end, split between the local section (CN) and the away fans (CO).
Vaporetto lines 1 or 4.1/4.2 to the Sant'Elena stop, then a 5-minute walk.
On foot: about 30 minutes from St Mark's Square, along the Riva degli Schiavoni.
No car access: park at Piazzale Roma or in Mestre, then take the vaporetto.
Venezia have strong regional rivalries with Padova, Verona, Treviso and Udinese, their Friuli neighbours. Games against the big clubs, Inter, Milan and Juventus, draw crowds all the way to the lagoon.
Venezia's major title is the 1941 Coppa Italia, won with Valentino Mazzola and Ezio Loik, future pillars of the Grande Torino. The club also finished third in Serie A in 1942 and won several Serie B titles. They play Serie A (19 home games) and the Coppa Italia.
Valentino Mazzola and Ezio Loik launched their careers in Venice. Later, Álvaro Recoba, on loan from Inter in 1999, gave the Penzo a historic survival, with Filippo Maniero as top scorer. More recently, Joel Pohjanpalo was the hero of the 2024 promotion to Serie A.
Venezia was founded in 1907 in an inn in the Cannaregio district. It first played in black and green, then adopted in 1987, after a merger with the Mestre club, its famous orange, black and green shirt, hence the nickname "Arancioneroverdi". The winged lion of Saint Mark adorns its crest.
The golden age came in the early 1940s, with the 1941 Coppa Italia and third place in Serie A. The club then moved between divisions, before a notable return to Serie A in the late 1990s under president Maurizio Zamparini.
After several bankruptcies and refoundations in the 2000s, Venezia was reborn under American owners, who also turned it into a fashion brand known worldwide for its shirts. The club returned to Serie A in 2021 and again in 2024, and dreams of a new stadium on the mainland.

With only 11,000 seats, prices rise quickly for games against Inter, Milan, Juventus or Napoli. Right now, tickets start at €29. The ends are the cheapest seats, the centre of the Tribuna the most expensive.
The stadium is on the island of Sant'Elena, east of Venice. The easiest way is the vaporetto (lines 1 or 4.1/4.2, Sant'Elena stop), then a 5-minute walk. From St Mark's Square, allow about 30 minutes on foot along the Riva degli Schiavoni. There is no car access.
