See ticketsA town of 50,000 people, a stadium of 23,500 seats: in Vila-real, the Estadio de la Cerámica sits literally in the middle of town, surrounded by apartment blocks. Opened in 1923 and renamed in tribute to the ceramics industry that drives the region, it has been fully renovated and clad in yellow tiles.
The pitch is framed by four steep stands: the Preferencia and the Tribuna on the sides, the Fondo Norte and the Fondo Sur behind the goals. Sections have names rather than numbers (Preferencia Baja, Tribuna Lateral, Córner Joven…), and away fans are lined up along the Fondo Norte.
The big fixtures of the season are the Valencian Community derby against Valencia and visits from Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
Tribuna
The main stand, with the dugouts and the VIP area in the centre. All its sections are Category 1 Premium: this is where the view is best.
Preferencia
The big stand opposite, over several levels. At the bottom, the Preferencia Baja and Preferencia Cubierta (Category 1 Premium); at the top, the Preferencia and Preferencia Joven (Category 1), slightly cheaper.
Fondo Norte
Behind the goal, with the Córner Joven and the numbered rows along the away section. Category 2 seats, among the cheapest in the stadium.
Fondo Sur
Behind the other goal, in two parts: the uncovered Fondo Sur Descubierto and the covered Fondo Sur Cubierto, plus the Lateral Sur and the Esquina in the corners. Category 2 seats.
Cercanías commuter line C6 or a regional train from Valencia (just under an hour), then about ten minutes on foot from Vila-real station.
From Castellón de la Plana, less than 10 km away: frequent trains and buses.
The stadium is in the middle of town and parking is scarce: take the train and arrive early to enjoy the bars around the Cerámica.
The derby against Valencia, the big neighbouring city, is the hottest game of the season at the Cerámica. Visits from Real Madrid, Barça and Atlético also sell out: these are the most expensive tickets.
In 2021, Villarreal won the Europa League against Manchester United after a historic penalty shoot-out (11-10). The club has also reached two Champions League semi-finals (2006 and 2022), a remarkable feat for a town of this size.
Juan Román Riquelme, Diego Forlán, Marcos Senna, Santi Cazorla, Bruno Soriano and Gerard Moreno wrote the yellow story. On the French side, Robert Pirès played four seasons there, and Étienne Capoue and Francis Coquelin lifted the 2021 Europa League.
Villarreal CF was founded in 1923 and spent most of its history in the lower divisions. Its nickname, "El Submarino Amarillo", comes from fans who sang the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" during a promotion in the 1960s.
Everything changed in 1997 with the arrival of president Fernando Roig, a ceramics industrialist. The club reached LaLiga in 1998, stayed there and within a few years became a regular in European competitions.
Renowned academy, smart recruitment and a renovated stadium: Villarreal is now proof that you can compete with Spain's giants from a town of 50,000 people.
Next home game for the Yellow Submarine: Villarreal - Getafe on Sunday, 8 November 2026 at 18:30. Tickets from €68 on our comparison.
See tickets →For the best view, go for the Tribuna or the lower Preferencia (Category 1 Premium). The upper Preferencia (Category 1) is still very well placed for a little less. Behind the goals, the Fondo Norte and Fondo Sur (Category 2) are the most affordable.
Expect to pay much more for the derby against Valencia and the games against Real Madrid or Barça. Right now, tickets start from €35 on our site. The rest of the season, the Cerámica is one of the most affordable grounds in LaLiga.
Vila-real is about 60 km north of Valencia. The commuter train (Cercanías line C6) or a regional train links Valencia to Vila-real station in just under an hour; the stadium is then about a ten-minute walk away.
Yes: Castellón de la Plana is less than 10 km away, with frequent trains and buses. It is a good base if you want to stay by the sea the night before the match.
Villarreal tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
