See ticketsSchalke 04 play at the Veltins-Arena, opened in 2001 in Gelsenkirchen. With over 62,000 places for league games, it is one of Germany's biggest stadiums, and one of the most modern: its roof is retractable and its pitch can slide out of the stadium on a platform.
The stadium is enclosed over three tiers. The side stands (R+V Tribüne and Ost-Tribüne) have the best seats at the bottom of the lower tier and the boxes on the middle level, while the two ends, including the Nordkurve and its standing terrace, bring together the most passionate fans.
The Königsblauen fill their stadium almost every game, even in difficult seasons. The Revierderby against Borussia Dortmund is by far the most sought-after ticket.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
R+V Tribüne
The main stand, with the dugouts and the boxes. The lower blocks, named with letters and Roman numerals (Category 1 Premium), offer the best view in the stadium.
Ost-Tribüne
The opposite side stand. Lower blocks K to V are Category 1 Premium, blocks 41 to 64 in the upper tier Category 1, a little cheaper.
Nordkurve
The end of Schalke's most passionate fans, with its standing terrace. Guaranteed atmosphere, in Category 2.
Südkurve
The opposite end, in Category 2. Lower blocks N1 to N6 and upper blocks 25 to 40 are among the cheapest seats in the stadium.
Tram 302 from Gelsenkirchen main station (Gelsenkirchen Hbf) to the Veltins-Arena stop: about 20 minutes.
On match days, extra trams run and you travel among the fans.

The great rival is Borussia Dortmund: the Revierderby, the Ruhr derby, is one of the most passionate games in Europe. It is the most expensive and hardest ticket to find of the season.
Schalke have been German champions seven times, including six titles between 1934 and 1942, won five German Cups and the 1997 UEFA Cup with their "Eurofighters". The club plays the Bundesliga (17 home games) and the German Cup.
Ernst Kuzorra and Fritz Szepan, stars of the 1930s "Schalker Kreisel", Klaus Fischer and his bicycle kicks, Olaf Thon, Marc Wilmots, Raúl and academy graduate Manuel Neuer shaped the history of the Königsblauen.
Schalke 04 was founded in 1904 in Gelsenkirchen, in the heart of the Ruhr coalfield, hence their nickname "Knappen" (the miners). In the 1930s, their short-passing game, the "Schalker Kreisel", brought them six German titles.
After a last title in 1958, the club remained one of the most popular in the country. In 1997, a team without stars, the "Eurofighters", won the UEFA Cup against Inter Milan. Three German Cups followed in 2001, 2002 and 2011, and a Champions League semi-final in 2011.
In 2001, Schalke left the Parkstadion for the Veltins-Arena, one of the most modern stadiums in Europe. Despite relegations in 2021 and 2023, the club keeps one of the biggest attendances in Germany, driven by remarkably loyal fans.

The Revierderby against Dortmund is by far the most expensive game. Right now, tickets start from €27 on our site. The ends and the upper tier are the cheapest, the bottom of the side stands (Category 1 Premium) the most expensive.
The roof is retractable and can be closed in bad weather. All seats are covered anyway: you stay dry whichever block you choose.
From Gelsenkirchen main station, take tram 302 to the Veltins-Arena stop: allow around 20 minutes. On match days, extra trams run.
