See ticketsThe Johan Cruyff Arena, opened in 1996 in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, is the largest stadium in the Netherlands with around 55,000 seats. Its retractable roof made it one of the first grounds in Europe that can close completely, and since 2018 it has carried the name of the club's legend.
The stadium has two rings: the first (100 blocks) closest to the pitch, and the second (400 blocks) for a spectacular overall view. The sidelines are the most sought-after, while the ends behind the goals often offer the lowest prices, with the F-Side, the heart of Ajax's support, in the south.
De Klassieker against Feyenoord and the games against PSV are the most expensive of the season. The Arena also hosted the 2013 Europa League final and Euro 2020 matches.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
West
The main stand, at the bottom of the map. First ring from 101 to 111, second ring from 402 to 409, and field seats from 001 to 011.
Oost
The sideline at the top of the map, facing the main stand. First ring from 117 to 124, second ring from 418 to 424, and field seats from 017 to 024.
Noord
Behind the goal, on the left of the map. First ring from 112 to 116, second ring from 410 to 415, field seats from 012 to 016 and the MVP Lounge. Away fans sit in the corner, blocks 416 and 417.
Zuid
Behind the other goal, home of the F-Side, the heart of Ajax's support. First ring from 125 to 129, second ring 401 and 425 to 430, field seats from 025 to 029.
Train or metro to Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station (about 15 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal), then a few minutes on foot.
Metro 50 or 54 to Strandvliet station, right next to the stadium.
From Schiphol airport, direct trains reach Bijlmer ArenA in about twenty minutes.
Under Rinus Michels and with Johan Cruyff, Ajax invented in the 1970s a game where every player could take any position. This 'Total Football' inspired generations of coaches, from Barcelona to the rest of the world.
Ajax won three European Cups in a row (1971, 1972, 1973), then the 1995 Champions League with a team of home-grown youngsters. They also have a UEFA Cup and a Cup Winners' Cup.
The De Toekomst academy ('the future') produced Cruyff, Van Basten, Bergkamp, Seedorf, Kluivert and De Jong. Developing and showcasing young players remains the club's DNA.
Ajax was founded in 1900 in Amsterdam. For decades, the club played at De Meer stadium in the east of the city, staging its big European nights at the Olympic Stadium.
The 1970s made the club a world reference, with three straight European Cups and Johan Cruyff as conductor. In 1995, a new generation won the Champions League against AC Milan.
In 1996, Ajax left De Meer for the Amsterdam Arena, renamed the Johan Cruyff Arena in 2018. The most successful club in the Netherlands, it remains one of the big three alongside PSV and Feyenoord.

See tickets →Ajax's official box office keeps most seats for members and season-ticket holders, and games are often sold out. Our partner resellers offer tickets available without membership, with a guarantee on every order.
De Klassieker against Feyenoord is by far the most expensive game of the season. Right now, tickets start from €69 on our site. The second ring behind the goals often offers the lowest prices.
The easiest way is the train or metro to Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station, about 15 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal, then a few minutes on foot. Strandvliet metro station is also close by.
For the best view, choose the centre of a sideline in the first ring. The second ring gives a fine overall view at lower prices, and the F-Side, behind the south goal, is the place to soak up the ultras' atmosphere.
Ajax tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
