See ticketsThe Etihad Stadium was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, then converted into a football ground to welcome Manchester City from 2003. The club was leaving Maine Road, its historic home since 1923. The stadium stands in east Manchester, at the heart of a large sports campus that also hosts the club's training ground and academy.
Its bowl shape, with stands linked by rounded corners and distinctive masts, gives a good view from almost every seat. It has four stands: the East Stand and the Colin Bell Stand along the sides, the North Stand and South Stand behind the goals, each over three tiers.
With just over 53,000 seats today, the Etihad keeps evolving: the North Stand expansion is set to take it past 60,000. Big games, like the derby against United or Liverpool's visit, regularly sell out.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
South Stand
Behind the south goal, over three tiers. The corner next to the East Stand (blocks 013, 014, 113, 114, 313 and 314) is reserved for away fans.
North Stand
Behind the north goal, home to City's loudest fans. It is the subject of an expansion project set to take the stadium's capacity beyond 60,000.
East Stand
Side stand over three tiers, with several lounges (1894 Club Bar, Citizens, Kits, Joe's East). Central seats give an ideal view of the game.
Colin Bell Stand
The other side stand, named after the club legend. It houses the dugouts, the players' tunnel and the most prestigious areas, such as the Tunnel Club and the Chairman's Club.
Metrolink tram, Etihad Campus stop (Ashton-under-Lyne line): right outside the stadium, about ten minutes from the city centre.
Manchester Piccadilly station: about a 30-minute walk, or a few tram stops.
Ashburys station: about a 15-minute walk, handy to avoid the tram crowds after the match.
The game not to miss is the Manchester derby against United, a local rivalry that has become one of the most watched in the world. In recent seasons, title races have also made Liverpool and Arsenal major opponents. For these games, seats go fast and prices rise sharply.
City play the Premier League every season (19 matches at the Etihad), the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and are Champions League regulars. With domestic and European cups, the stadium usually hosts 25 to 30 games a year, so there is always a date to suit you.
From Colin Bell and Mike Summerbee in the 1960s to Sergio Agüero, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Yaya Touré and Kevin De Bruyne, City have had exceptional players. Since 2016 Pep Guardiola has built one of the most dominant teams in history, led by Erling Haaland. French fans will also remember Samir Nasri, Gaël Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Nicolas Anelka in sky blue.
The club was born in 1880 in east Manchester as St. Mark's (West Gorton), a church team. It took the name Manchester City in 1894 and won its first trophies early in the 20th century, before a first league title in 1937.
The 1960s were a first golden age: champions in 1968, City followed with the FA Cup in 1969 and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1970. More turbulent decades followed, including a spell in the third tier in the late 1990s, before the move to the Etihad in 2003.
The 2008 takeover by an Abu Dhabi group changed everything. The 2012 title, snatched in the final seconds by a Sergio Agüero goal, opened an era of dominance. Under Pep Guardiola, City won several league titles in a row and completed a historic treble in 2023, including their first Champions League.
The next game at the Etihad Stadium is Manchester City - Brighton, scheduled for Saturday, 31 October 2026 at 15:00. Tickets are available from €59 on our comparison.
See tickets →Select the game in the list, then click a stand on the Etihad Stadium map to see available offers. We gather prices from several resellers: pick the best deal and complete your booking securely on the reseller's site.
Prices vary a lot depending on the fixture: a game against a mid-table side stays affordable, while the derby against United or Liverpool's visit cost much more. Right now, prices start from €36 on our site (per ticket, excluding fees). Stands behind the goals and upper tiers are often the most affordable.
Official tickets go first to season-ticket holders and Cityzens members, and few are left for the general public for big games. Without a membership, you can use hospitality packages or the resale sites we compare. It's the safest route: avoid sales on social media or between individuals, often a source of scams. Our partners are chosen for their reliability and guarantee the tickets they sell: if something goes wrong, their customer service offers a refund or a replacement.
Manchester City play at the Etihad Stadium, east of Manchester city centre, on the Etihad Campus. The easiest way there is the Metrolink tram to the Etihad Campus stop, right outside the ground.
Yes, the hospitality offer is extensive: the Tunnel Club, where you can watch the players walk out, the Chairman's Club, The Mancunian, Joe's East and West, the 1894 Club Bar and Executive seats. Our partners' VIP offers are shown on the map alongside regular tickets.
Manchester City tickets are usually mobile tickets, shown on your smartphone at the turnstiles. They often arrive a few days before the game, sometimes the day before. The delivery method is shown on each offer.
No, as a rule stadium tours are not offered on match days. Plan it the day before or after your game, and check available slots on the club's official site.
