See ticketsThe Estádio da Luz is Portugal's biggest stadium: over 68,000 seats under a wave-shaped roof, opened in 2003 in the north of Lisbon. It hosted the Euro 2004 final and two Champions League finals, in 2014 and 2020.
The stadium has three levels all around the pitch. The sidelines, East Stand (top of the map) and West Stand (bottom), hold the best seats: Category 1 Platinum and Gold closest to the grass, Silver and Category 1 in the upper tier. Behind the goals, the North and South Stands are Category 2 below and Category 3 above.
Before every match, the eagle Vitória flies around the stadium before landing on the crest: a ritual not to be missed. The clássicos against FC Porto and the Lisbon derby against Sporting are the most sought-after tickets of the season.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
East Stand
The sideline at the top of the map. On the first level, blocks 14 to 20 are Category 1 Platinum and the corners Gold; in the upper tier, blocks 22 to 24 are Silver and their neighbours Category 1.
West Stand
The stand opposite, with the presidential stand (TP). Blocks 30 to 32 and 01 to 04 (Category 1 Platinum) are closest to the halfway line; at the top, blocks 44, 01 and 02 are Silver.
North Stand
Behind the goal, on the left of the map. The first two levels (blocks 22 to 28, then 28 to 38) are Category 2; the upper tier is Category 3, among the cheapest seats.
South Stand
Behind the other goal. Blocks 06 to 12 below and 06 to 16 on the second level are Category 2; the upper tier (07 to 17) is Category 3.
Metro blue line: Colégio Militar/Luz or Alto dos Moinhos stations, right next to the stadium.
From central Lisbon, allow about twenty minutes by metro.
Arrive early for the flight of the eagle Vitória before kick-off, and to avoid the crowds at the gates.
The eagle is Benfica's emblem, and fans call their players the "Águias" or the "Encarnados", the reds. The club has one of the largest memberships of any club in the world.
In 1961 and 1962, Benfica won two European Cups in a row, the second against Real Madrid. The club has since played in several more European finals.
The "Black Panther" defined the club's history in the 1960s. His statue welcomes fans outside the Estádio da Luz, on the avenue named after him.
Sport Lisboa e Benfica was founded in 1904 in Lisbon. It quickly became one of the big three of Portuguese football, alongside FC Porto and Sporting.
The 1960s were its golden age: two European Cups, Eusébio and a Luz stadium among the largest in Europe.
The new Estádio da Luz, opened in 2003 on the site of the old one, carries on that tradition. Benfica are the most successful club in the Portuguese league.
Next match at the Luz: Benfica - Alverca on Monday, 2 November 2026 at 20:15. Tickets from €18 on our comparison.
See tickets →Before kick-off, the eagle Vitória takes off and circles the Estádio da Luz before landing on the club crest. Arrive early so you don't miss one of the most famous moments in European football.
The derby against Sporting and the clássico against FC Porto are much more expensive than other matches. Right now, tickets start from €18 on our site. Behind the goals, upstairs (Category 3), you will often find the cheapest seats.
Take the blue line of the Lisbon metro to Colégio Militar/Luz or Alto dos Moinhos: the stadium is right next to it. From the centre, allow about twenty minutes.
For the best view, choose the centre of a sideline on the first level (blocks 14 to 20, or 30 to 32 and 01 to 04), in Category 1 Platinum. The central upper tier (Category 1 Silver) gives a spectacular overall view.
Benfica tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
