See ticketsThe Reale Arena, long known as Anoeta, has been Real Sociedad's home since 1993. In 2019, the club removed the athletics track and brought the stands closer to the pitch: the fully covered 39,500-seat stadium became one of the cauldrons of northern Spain.
The side stands have two levels: at the bottom, the numbered sections (1 to 27), the korners and the palcos; at the top, the ring of letters A to S. Behind the goals are the Familiar stand at one end and the Aitor Zabaleta stand at the other, where the most passionate fans gather.
The Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao sets the whole city buzzing, as do visits from Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Each stand offers a different experience. Here is what you need to know.
Tribuna Nagusia
The main stand, on the dugout side. At the bottom, sections 1, 2, 19, 20, 26 and 27 and the Premium, Plus A and Plus E areas (Category 1 Premium); at the top, the A to C and N to S ring (Category 1).
Ekialdeko Tribuna
The East stand, opposite. At the bottom, sections 8 to 13 and the Palco Este (Category 1 Premium); at the top, sections F to K (Category 1), with a great overall view.
Tribuna Familiarra
Behind the north goal, the family stand, with sections E1 to E3 and its palco. Category 2 seats; the away section is in the neighbouring corner.
Aitor Zabaleta
Behind the south goal, the stand named after Aitor Zabaleta, a Real fan who died in 1998. It is the heart of the atmosphere, with sections L1 to L3. Category 2 seats.
Euskotren train (the "Topo"), Anoeta station, a few minutes' walk from the stadium.
Dbus city buses from the centre, or about 25 minutes on foot from the old town through the Amara district.
Pintxos in the Parte Vieja are a must before the match: set off early to give yourself time to reach the stadium.
Real Sociedad against Athletic Bilbao is San Sebastián against Bilbao, Gipuzkoa against Biscay. It is the most awaited game of the season at the Reale Arena, where tickets go first, along with those for Real Madrid and Barça.
Two Spanish league titles in a row (1981 and 1982), three Copas del Rey, the last in 2021, won in the final… against Athletic. La Real plays LaLiga every season (19 home games) and the Copa del Rey, often a European competition too.
Luis Arconada, Xabi Alonso, Mikel Oyarzabal, Martin Ødegaard and David Silva have worn the txuri-urdin shirt. And it was here that Antoine Griezmann, signed by the club as a teenager, made his professional debut before becoming a world champion.
Real Sociedad was founded in 1909 in San Sebastián, the city of La Concha bay. Its players wear white and blue, hence the Basque nickname "Txuri-Urdin".
In the early 1980s, led by goalkeeper Luis Arconada, La Real won two Spanish league titles in a row, with a team almost entirely trained at the club.
The Zubieta academy remains its greatest asset: Xabi Alonso, Mikel Oyarzabal and Martín Zubimendi all came through it. With the new Reale Arena, the club has settled in the top half of LaLiga and in European competition.
Next up at the Reale Arena: Real Sociedad - Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, 8 November 2026 at 16:15. Tickets from €52 on our comparison.
See tickets →The numbers (1 to 27), the korners and the palcos make up the lower side stands and corners: these are the Category 1 Premium seats, closest to the pitch. The letters (A to S) are the upper tier, in Category 1. Behind the goals, the Familiar and Aitor Zabaleta stands are Category 2.
The derby against Athletic and the games against Real Madrid and Barça are the most expensive. Right now, tickets start from €39 on our site. For a quieter game, the upper tier offers great value for the view.
The stadium is in the Amara district, about a 25-minute walk from the old town. The Euskotren train (the "Topo") stops at Anoeta station, and many Dbus city buses serve the stadium.
San Sebastián is the capital of pintxos: hop between the bars of the Parte Vieja (old town) before walking to the stadium through the Amara district. Book ahead if you want a proper restaurant on big match nights.
Real Sociedad tickets are usually electronic or mobile and sent a few days before the match. The exact delivery method is shown on each offer.
